Hi all,

I am using CFX4.4 and want to calculate chemical reaction between gas and solid defind as porous media in a pipe but I have no idea how to do it.

Brief description of the reaction is A (gas)+B (defined as porous media) -> C (gas).

Thanks

This looks like a surface reaction. You can't use the default chemistry models for surface chemistry, so you'll have to put sources and sinks in your species equations.

1) Create mass fractions for A and C (initially zero). 2) Define a rate of reaction based on the concentration of A and the surface area of the porous media ( and temperature, pressure, etc.....) 3) Apply this as a source in the porous region based on the media contact area in each cell (you can access VOL for the cell) and set it as a negative source for A and a positive source for C.

You'll have to do this in USRSRC
