Inserting a momentumsource in CFX 18.0

Hello:),

I am quite new to this community and to CFD; this is may first question. I searched for an specif answer to may question, but could't find any. Here it is: I need to insert a momentum source in the 18.0 version of Ansys. I want to make my simulation as simple as possible and therefore I want to simulate a fan with a point source, as I already simulate a gas leak using a continuity source. The problem is I cannot find this option in CFX Pre. All I get besides continuity is total energy, kinetic energy and turbulence eddy dissipation. Thanks for any help.

When I open Pre, I see an icon in the ribbon, that allows me to specify a Source Point. Left to it there is an icon where you can insert a Subdomain, which can be used to define a volume source.

Isn't that enough? I would think it gives enough possibilities to fullfill your needs, not?

unfortunately, momentum sources are not available for source points.

You may have to isolate the specific element in the mesh (outside CFX-Pre), and then you can select that element as a subdomain.

I do not see an alternative way at the moment. Is the fan that small ?

Yes Opaque is right. You should create a small volume as Subdomain. That will provide a momentum source.
