I'm currently trying to run an incompressible problem (internal flow in a windtunnel) and my simulation seems to converge for a while and then it starts oscillating wildly. As a good forum user I went to look it up in the FAQ before asking my question here:

https://www.cfd-online.com/Wiki/Ansy...gence_criteria

I tried various things suggested in the guide, and I'm now fairly sure that it's probably due to poor mesh quality locally. And point 4 suggested that I'd do a run with the residuals in the .res file to locate the region where it all goes wrong. Being able to find the exact region where the divergence originates sounds like a golden feature to track down mesh errors.

Only I don't quite know how to set up a run like that. Would anyone be so kind as to put me in the right direction to create a .res file with all the proper info in it?

I dont have CFX at hand atm to look up the exact menu but I think it is under Output Control and there should be an option like output equation residuals or something like that.

Thanks. I'll give that a go. Can I later check those in CFD post then? Or does it work differently?

Yes. You just open it in Post and then you can for example place a point and use maximum residual W-Mom or something like that in its definition. Its a bit tricky to find in the variable list but I think u'll manage.
