Problem with boundary conditions

1 Attachment(s)
Hello,

In Geometry creating stage, I didn't spacify some of faces. I created a packed bed of spheres and then in order to specify domain, I created a box around the packed bed. Now in CFD modelling, I want to specify 4 sides of the packed bed as wall (symmetry), as 2 of 4 walls can be seen in the figure. But in CFX, there is no option to specify and name walls. Do I have to return to the first stage and name all faces? or in this current stage I can do it?

Many thanks in advance.

In CFX-Pre for most mesh types it gives you access to the raw face names so you can define boundaries on faces you did not define explicitly in the mesh. One of the early CFX tutorials describes how to use the face picker tool in CFX-Pre to find raw face names.

Like fluent, I know. I always do that in Fluent. but in CFX...I returned to the meshing stage and edit my mesh. CFX seems so complicated to me. Fluent is relatively easy for me. But for this project I have to use CFX.

Thanks.

My previous post tried to explain how you can select those faces directly. But if you have edited the mesh then you can do it that way.

CFX is far easier to use than Fluent in my experience. Once you get familiar with the basics of CFX you will probably agree.

well. I think you're right. for example in fluent if one of parameters is a function of time, we have to write UDF but in CFX, we can just write an expression and it is much easier than writing an UDF. Now I am reading CFX tutorial (14.5). I think it has worth.
