Hi All,

I am starting to use CFX but I would like to know how the constant guess (if specified) affects the progress or finall results of my simulation.

Thanks Mary

Hi Mary,

Depends on the simulation. Simple simulations will converge quickly no matter what the initial guess, but more complex simulations will converge slower or not at all if the initial guess is poor.

Hi Glemm,

Please excuse my ignorance, is constant guess the same as initial guess? Mary L.

I do still think so. The initial guess can be also not constant in space of the domain. You can set the variables in initial guess to be functions of space coordinates, or domains ... . You can keep it constant throughout the domain and set its value, or you can (in steady state) let the code set the guess for you (in this case the velocity magnitude information could be helpfull for the code to set the suitable initial timestep)

hope this helps )
