ANSYS Flotran for porous material

Does anybody knows how to use ANSYS flotran to model porous material by using fluid142? I put the permability into the model, but it seems the result did not change at all.

I saw a lot of people here using CFX to model porous material problem, is the theory for Flotran and CFX similar?

Any comments are welcome!

Thanks

I have computed the seepage field of a earth dam,but I use thermal anlysis,if you think this may be useful,I can send it to you

Flotran

My email is ramawaad@gmail.com
I made simulation for fracture aquifer. groundwater water model.
I want to used FLOTRAN141(2D). but I do not how to put the permeability.
I expoler in material model in ANSYS-FLOTRAN I get thermal conductivity only no hydrualic conductivity.
If you have Tutorial IN ANSYS GUI.Shell you send it?

Dear Sun man
can you sen me your example file for earthen dam analysis ?
I would like to look into it.
I am working with Ansys 13 environment for earthen dam break . I am very new in this .my email address>yasharif@yahoo.com
thanks

You might be modelling a dam break, but I doubt a flotran simulation will help you much. It is the old CFD solver which used to come with ANSYS FEA.

Thnx, you are right

Thnx, you are right, I am modeling a dam break.
Do you have any step by step handout or sample problem that would help me to build up the model in ANSYS 13.
I appreciate your help.
Thank you very much.

Dear Brother
I am very new in ANSYS 13.
Can you tell me the step by step procedure to compute seepage field of a earth dam ?
I appreciate your help.
Thank you .
Sharif

The free surface flow over a bump tutorial is a good start.

This old post is all about flotran so will not be any use to you if you are using CFX - that's if the original authors are still alive.

Thnx

Thank you very much dear friend.
Is there any tutorial on that so that would help me in defining the porous material like mixture of soils..?
Thanx again

The catalytic converter example uses a porous material. I think you should go through the tutorials yourself and do the ones relevant to your model.

I am tackling same problem sir, kindly help me out to put C and co-efficients for Re.

Sir, hoping to get doubts cleared regarding porous media simulation in FLOTRAN. An example would help a lot.
