How to draw a circle in CFXPost5.6

Hi everyone:

It is difficult for me to draw a discretional circle in CFXPost.I only know drawing a polyline with boundary intersection will do it.Do anyone know a better way to draw a discretional circle in CFXPost and get the results on it? If so ,just give me a hint.

Best Regards Mangnan

Can't you just create a polyline from a file?

I have tried it.It seems to be very complex because I have to find the point on the circle. So I think there may be another easy way.

Do you mean want to:

- load a polyline that forms the boundary edge of a circle?

- load a user defined 2D surface that is a circle?

- let CFX-Post create a circular surface for you?

You can do all three.

Hello Mangnan,

I also encountered similar experience. Its frustrating drawing the points with "export" after calculating the points in excel. I present just a thought in fooling the system! I do not know whether it works in ur case or not.

You can define the axis of the circle you want to define, as a line. Then make a surface of revolution around it with finite thickness (e.g 0.001m or even less) with cylinder method. Then when you export the data for variables, the variation of axial coordintate is not much(depending on the thickness you defined), thus one can plot the variable data wrt the X and Y axis, considering Z being the axis of circle.

Does this work?

Hi Dan,

Can you please elucidate on how to create a polyline that forms the boundary edge of the circle.
It is not a part of the intersection and if I try to export points, I am confused about the number of points to be taken and also if I have to create lines to link all the points or is there any specific command to make post understand that user wants a circle.
Thank you and sorry to revive the dead thread.

Just had the same issue - was trying to create a circular boundary (as in, a circular curve at a given radius). Trying to create a curve from two surfaces - a cylinder and a plane - wasn't cutting it, because neither were boundaries and therefore that wasn't a viable option as far as polylines are concerned.

In the end, creating an iso-clip on a cylindrical plane did the trick. Just set the iso-function to be X/Y/Z, and set it to be equal to a given value.

All the best,
Jonathan
