How to convert .trn files to .cgns files

Hello,

I am running a transient RANS simulation in CFX and outputting .trn files accordingly. My simulation is about to be completed. I would like to convert the written "trn" files to "cgns" files so that I can postProcess all the written transient files using macros in Tecplot. Basic tasks include time-averaging using all the written time-step files, probing property data at any point decided during postProcessing phase.

The solver manager has export capabilities. In the top-menu-bar look for Tools>Export Results

When I do say "export results" as shown in the picture, I can only export surface results. I want to extract results for the whole domain as cgns files.

How can I extract results as cgns for the whole main?

As I am using CFX on linux, I figured this out:

In order to extract data from the .res file, I say:
cfx5export -cgns CFD_001.res
This exports the results from the last time step into a cgns file.

However, I want to extract data from transient files. When I say:
cfx5export -cgns CFD_001/1000.trn, it says

" Unable to initialize API: invalid topology.
An error has occured in cfx5export "

Is this because trn file does not include the mesh?

Yes probably.
There is something like a -alltimesteps flag to get each trn result.

Follow Gert-Jan'ssuggestion. Use the ANSYS CFX Solver Manager, not ANSYS CFX-Pre.

There is a separate utility for export to multiple formats. Check the documentation for details.
