Hi All,

I am fairly new to CFX and I was wondering if anyone knows if CFX will run under SUSE 9.2 Professional (a flavour of linux).

Thanks in advance,

Paul.

It will,

however the officially suported platform is redhat, so if you have problems, they will not likely to help you. But i did not run into any problems.

I've been working with CFX-5 (5.6 and 5.7) and SuSE since version 9.0. I've upgraded to 9.1 at the beginning of this year and I'm planning to upgrade again to 9.2 in January. I don't expect to run into troubles with this new version and CFX.

I think that there are no major differences between SuSE 9.1 and 9.2 with regards what CFX expects to use (libs, X, Qt, kernel).

I remember that I had a little issue (missing libs) with ICEM 4.3 and SuSE 9.1. But a small symlink has solved the problem.

Good luck, Stevie

I run CFX 5.7.1 on Debian 3.1/testing with 2.6.9 kernel and Gnome 2.8. Even if the officialy supported distribution is RedHat, it doesn't mean that it will not run on any other distribution.

You are free to try running it on any system you want, but if you get into trouble and require support, the first thing you will probably be told is that the OS is not supported and that will be the end of the conversation. Why put yourself in that situation if you don't have to?

I run 5.7.1 and 5.7 on my 9.1 box at work. It works fine. I have had OpenGL graphics issues (i.e. random crashes), but this is more likely driver/hardware related than CFX related. Just run in mesa mode if you have problems.
