heat release /without cpombustion model

Hello everybody,

I have to model a kerosene pool fire and as kerosene/crude oil material and reactions are not avalibale in the library i would rather prefere to model the fire as a heat release of lets say 10 MW.

Do you Know how i can set this in Cfx 5.7? I know it was possible to do it in CFX 4, but in 5.7 i dont know how to do it.

Can you give me some advices? Thanks, Rosilva

Hello Rosilva,

If you are not interested in species concentrations, you could also use any other fuel as a combusting material (CH4, for example). You just have to make sure that the HRR is the correct one. To model this, you could release fuel (CH4) from an inlet with the shape of your pool fire.

You could also look at the CFX tutorials (Reacting flow in a mixing tube), how you could set up a reaction by yourself if you are interested in species concentration.

Alternatively, you could also use a simple heat release source model, but be carefull to adjust the volume of the heat source, so that you get reasonable temperatures.

I hope that this helps a bit.

Best wishes, Ulian
