Cyclone analysis

Hi, I have taken up a cyclone design ,targetting for max. particle collection efficiency through CFD. As being a highly swirling flow,I am facing problem in convergence. Can anyone suggest the level of convergence for these type of flows? Thanking you in advance for reply

Re: Cyclone analysis

Hi,

how are you modeling the particles? Lagrangian tracking or Eulerian?

Are you steadying everything out with a "high eddy viscosity model" like k-eps?

The physics of many of these swirling cyclone flows is that there is and instability in the highly swirling core that causes it to wobble an become unsteady. That can be hard to model and you have to run an LES type simulation.
