Default Direction of rotation

Hi, All

I am doing tutorial 15: multiphase mixer. In that tutorial, the rotation speed of the impeller domain and shafts were set as 84 rpm. I was wondering what's the direction of the rotation. If look from up to down, do they rotate clockwise or counter clockwise? (I guess it's counter clockwise)

How can I show the rotation direction in cfx-pre or cfx-post?

Thanks

gab

It says that "Set Rotation Axis to Global X. " at page 306, so it means it rotates along X-axis with Right-Hand rule. The rotation direction is well defined.

To view the rotation, create a vector plot of "Velocity in STN Frame" (using hybrid values) on the walls of your rotating domain.

Thanks, Kiddo and Robin.

If use right hand rule, the rotation direction should be counterclockwise. However, look at the blade angle shown in figure 1 of that tutorial, I understand that the rotation direction should be clockwise.

Can you further clarify this?

Thanks, with best regards!

Gab

Because in page302, it set the domain as rotating, so the flow vector is refered to the rotating frame (Just imagine you are in the ratating domain and the flow vector shown is what you will see)

Hello,

Can anyone tell me how to plot vectors in rotating flows in Fluent. I have a geometry periodically rotating about z-axis and when I see vector in a plane I do not see any rotational flow in the cavity formed in geometry as shown in figure.
