Fixing "dirty" geometry for CFD

Hello,

I am trying to repair artery geometries with a bifurcation where a side branch has been merged with a main vessel, this creates an overlap and therefore there are surface geometries within the lumen itself at the bifurcation. I have found a technique in GeoMagic where I can remove these surfaces, however it’s an extremely time-consuming business (4ish hours)! I am trying to come up with methods where these unwanted surfaces can somehow be removed automatically.

Any thoughts?

My first guess would be to use Spaceclaim for this.

Design modeller has some nice geometry clean up fetures but every problem needs its own approach,
You will have to be more clear about your geometry (why are there surfaces in the first place) as I don't think much help can be given upon this question as it is just too general.

This question is more like; my car doesn't work... what is wrong with it?
there is simply no direct answer to this question

Ok I can propose a solution: delete the surfaces
..
did it help?

if you are working with STL or other polygon based cad files, than SpaceClaim is definitely the way to go

If you are using .stl surfaces (triangles) my go-to solution is to surface mesh it in ICEM, and generate a CAD surface out of that. Much easier to cut and merge compared to stl.
