Solver quits without results saying Return Code 15
 

Hi there,

i am working on a student research project dealing with the flow around a wind rotor. I am using a mesh with about 1 Million Hexas constisting of two domains, one rotating and one still. My problem is that the solver quits randomly (sometimes after 3 iteration another time after 15) with Return Code 15. Does anyone know what this means?

Hi Kramer,

What operating system are you working on? In Unix (AIX,IRIX,SUNOS,HPUX,LINUX) 15 can be a SIGTERM from the system or at login out..

Thanks for your hint, but im running a windows xp based system (2 Nodes, 1 x Athlon XP 2,2 GHZ 2GB RAM,1 x Pentium 4 3Ghz 2 GB Ram). I was able to make a run with 256 iterations and again there was the error message from the solver. Return Code 15?? Is there something like a list for the different Codes XX where it is described what they mean ?

Hi,

That code comes from the OS (windows in your case).. CFX usually writes messages of different kinds.

Well, it doesnt seem to be a windows code since it is the solver saying:

How should the solver reveal a OS-message? What do You think?

Hi,

Can you post the last page of the output file? That might help diagnose the problem.

here are the last two iterations. The simulation crashes everytime at a different iteration number, so i don't think that it is a problem with the mesh,Pre or BC. Do you know that behavior?
