Mesh Size
I have a mesh that I generated with a code in ICEM-CFD format. However, when I attempted to load into Pre, it took a long time, and finally I got an error message about it been to big its about 368MB in size, is there a limit then to what you can bring in ? or is there a switch of some kind. I will appreciate if any one knows or had similar experience.

Hi,
There is a technical note on the CFX-Community website about maximum model size for the different parts of CFX. Glenn Horrocks |
Re: Mesh Size
would you know how toget to it ?

Re: Mesh Size
Hi Glenn, I am interested in knowing the maximum Mesh size what CFX can solve. I have checked into CFX Community Forum and search for Mesh size but couldnt find the information can you please tell me exactly what exactly the forum question is?

Re: Mesh Size
Hi,
I think Glenn refers to this technical tip: Memory Limitations When Running CFX-5, http://www-waterloo.ansys.com/cfxcom...oblem_size.htm Rui |
Re: Mesh Size
Rui, My question has to do with when loading the files into Pre.

Re: Mesh Size
Last part of that article talks about the maximum problem size that can be set up in Pre. By the way, what's the number of nodes or elements of your mesh? And what's the machine and OS you use to run Pre?

Re: Mesh Size
I can not determine the number of nodes because it does not get loaded to Pre. I am using Linux Redhat 7.3 with 2Gb of memory.

Re: Mesh Size
Hi,
Does your meshing software tell you how many nodes? Glenn Horrocks |
Re: Mesh Size
You can load it to ICEMCFD and see if it will work. If it works okay, then output the mesh file from ICEM directly. ICEM should be able to tell you the no. of nodes in your domain.
