Default Will ICEMCFD mesh multibody/multisolid geometry?

Hello,

Currently I am using CFX-Mesh to mesh a multisolid part(generated from other 3D pakages, I combine these solids into one part in Workbench), then in CFX-Pre I can choose one of the solids as subdomain. I would say this is one of best features in CFX-Mesh.

I want to know if I can do the same thing in ICEM CFD, if I can, could you please tell me how?

Thanks.

Hi,

ICEM is the advanced meshing option in CFX these days and can mesh just about anything, but it is a little harder to use and requires a little more training. Therefore you almost certainly can mesh your geometry in ICEM, but I recommend you do some tutorial examples and/or training before you do so, to give you a background in the software.

For meshing with Tets - by default it will mesh each volume bounded by surfaces as a separate Part (grouping of mesh elements). These will then show as subdomains in CFX-Pre. Or - you can define Material Points/Bodies within the regions you want to mesh.

I tried one cube in cube case, the subdomain (inside cube) works fine in CFX-Pre with ICEM CFD mesh. However, it seems every BC used in CFX-Pre has to be defined in ICEM CFD mesh, otherwise, that face can not be selectable, which is not like CFX-Mesh, face can be selected as BC in CFX-Pre.
