HI friends, following tis the error came when i was trying to connect to host, for parallel running.

An error has occurred in cfx5solve:

Unable to start the PVM daemon on host Bioinform. This may indicate that the PVM daemon is already running on that host, or that it left files in /tmp on that host because it did not exit cleanly last time it was run Contents of /tmp/pvml.504: | | | | [t80040000] 09/13 17:13:49 CFD-5.ChemEngg.iisc.ernet.in (144.16.- | | 75.821:32797) LINUX 3.4.4 | | [t80040000] 09/13 17:13:49 ready Tue Sep 13 17:13:49 2005 | | [t80040000] 09/13 17:25:53 netoutput() timed out sending to cfd- | | -6 after 14, 190.000000 | | [t80040000] 09/13 17:25:53 hd_dump() ref 1 t 0xc0000 n "cfd-2"- | | a "" ar "LINUX" dsig 0x408841 | | [t80040000] 09/13 17:25:53 lo "" so "" dx "/opt/cfx/- | | Shared/pvm3.4.4_11-1/lib/pvmd" ep "" bx "" wd "" sp 1000 | | [t80040000] 09/13 17:25:53 sa 144.16.75.826:32769 mt- | | u 4080 f 0x100 e 0 txq 1 | | [t80040000] 09/13 17:25:53 tx 2 rx 1 rtt 1.000000 id- | | "" | | [t80040000] 09/13 17:27:43 netinput() bogus pkt from 144.16.75.- | | 826:32769 | | [t80000000] 09/13 17:58:45 stderr@Bioinform: bash: line 1:- | | /lib/pvmd: No such file or directory | | [t80000000] 09/13 17:58:45 stdout@Bioinform: EOF | | [t80000000] 09/13 17:58:45 stderr@Bioinform: bash: line 1:- | | fg: no job control | | [t80000000] 09/13 17:58:45 stdout@Bioinform: EOF | | [t80040000] 09/13 17:58:45 startack() host Bioinform expec- | | ted version, got "PvmCantStart"

you have to go to each host and kill each of the processes individually. for this type ps -eaf at teh cmd prompt and look at the redundant processes that are running. then use kill -9 followed by pid to kill the processes. once that is done type "rm /tmp/pvm*" to remove all pvm files from the tmp directory. this should solve your problem.

HI adrian, Thanks for your kind reply, but can you explain more about ps -eaf? What are the redundant processes it this context? and when this tmp/pvm file is created?

Thank you once again

With regards, Tuks
