Hallo,

Is it possible to import 3D structure from AUTOCAD by using ICEM CFD. After importing the structure, can I modify the structure?

Thank you

Why don't you try it and see, then you can tell us if you are successfull or not!

ICEM accept IGES etc format. Just output the right format to ICEM. I see no problem with that anyway. It's always faster to change your geometry in CAD, as ICEM is not designed for CAD purpose even though it has some geometry tools.

You can not export Iges from Autocad, you can only get ACIS. If ICEM accepts ACIS fine, otherwise you need another software that will convert it to IGES, personaly I use CADFIX. I think this is a strange question, if ICEM will accept 3D structure from Autocad, that is why I said try it !! if the question is how do you get ICEM to accept it , I would have answered as above. Unless ICEM can accept ACIS, it is not possible, I have ICEM 10, but I am too lazy and comfortable with Build to learn it, I did import an *.STL file and *.iges file into it once.

ICEM CFD will import DWG, ACIS, STL, IGES, STEP, ParaSolid, etc. - just about any generic CAD format. Some are free, some incur a license fee.

The way I have been doing it with AutoCAD is to import as an ACIS (.sat) file into ICEM. Easy to generate in AutoCAD, just go file>export, save type as ACIS(*.sat) then click save, and click on your model in the AutoCAD window.

Sorry... I thought Mechanical desktop should have IGES exporter. Most of the 3D CAD softwares offer this option.
