CFX Solve Return Codes
Hi,
I'm encountering the following error when attempting to run a simulation. +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ | An error has occurred in cfx5solve: | | | | The ANSYS CFX solver exited with return code 29. No results file | | has been created. | +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ Does anyone know what return code 29 means? Or even better, where can I find the documentation explaining what the different return codes refer to? Thanks in advance! Zander |
These codes are mostly useless.
Look for the temporary folder with the same name as your output-file. There might be a text file with more details. |

I've looked in the folder that you reference. It only contained two text files ("pid" and "mons"), and unfortunately neither of these contain any more details about the error. I'm not really sure how to proceed with debugging this. Zander |
Sometimes you can guess the error by guessing where in the solver process it occurred. But it is only guess work at the end of the day. It would be nice if ANSYS published an error code list but I have never seen it :(
If you can't work it out by the context then start with a simple simulation which works correctly and add the physics one bit at a time until you reproduce the error. This is a tedious way of finding the error, but sometimes it is the only way. |
Like Glenn mentioned, you can look in the output file where the error occurred and what make the solver fail. The info just above the error message itself is mostly more useful then the error code itself.

Thank you both for the help and advice.
I'll look further into the out file for which process is tripping it up, and if all else fails, go back to a simple simulation and work up from there. Thanks again! |
