Hi,

It is possible in CFX-5.7, CFX-5.7.1 and CFX-10.

Hi,

Have a look at the moving mesh tutorial example.

The moving mesh feature isn't available in CFX-5.6

Hi,

It was available in CFX 5.6 but as a beta feature. It has been completely reworked for CFX 5.7 and considerably updated again in CFX 10 so you will find any moving mesh simulations MUCH more accurate and easy to do using the current code. I recommend you update to the current version.

I didn't know it was available in CFX-5.6 as a beta feature, I thought it was introduced in CFX-5.7

I am attempting to learn how to do mesh deformation. I have cfx10 and I have completed and understood the tankvalve tutorial regarding a ball moving up and down. I am trying to simulate the opening of a door between two rooms using mesh deformation, but without much luck a yet. Are there any other tutorials available anywhere to help me get a broader view of how to implement mesh deformation?

I have simulated the moving mesh of a hydraulic motor and journal bearing it is extremely tiresome to do a moving mesh.

the point is since CFX dosent morph the mesh (creating new elements) it compresses the elements on one side and expands them on the other side.more ever CFX mesher does not allow u to select the type of elements.which is yet another problem.tetrahedral craps it's self.

even if it detects one bad element in doing so the solver will terminate.but CFX 10 is little bit robust compared to the previous ones.

it will be impossible to move the entire door at one step.

create a model at various stages of the expected movement and mesh them individually and when u moved it by 5 steps lets say create the res file at this position.

then use another model with the door location at the 5th step with a fresh mesh.

while defining the solver parameters use the resolution file just created as the intial values files.

once the door is completely moved you can post process them by creating a movie of the entire door movement by importing the resolution files individually with the animation editor on.

hope these are helpful.
