How to import t & Static pressure to Pre?

Hi,

I've time history of the outlet static pressure & I wish to use it as outlet boundary condition. Can I import the time & pressure values to Pre 5.7.1? If so, what's the format to assign the variables in the outlet boundary condition window.

In tutorial, they use an expression like f(t)=3*t etc & doesn't assign any time value for f(t). I don't want to use the formula expression like what they did in tutorial problem. Any suggestions?

thanks for help.

I do not remember about CFX-5.7.1. But I have an idea about CFX-10. Try this if it works for CFX-5.7.1 as well.

Use following method: - Create an MS Excel file. In one column write values of time values & in second column write pressure values at that time - Copy this two columns of excel file & paste in to a ".txt" (Notepad) file. Save this ".txt" file with any name you want

Now in CFX-Pre: - "Create" Menu > Library Objects > User Function - Give a name to the user function - Put argument unit that shall be unit for time in your case - Put result unit that shall be unit for pressure in your case - Choose option "One Dimensional" - Right click in to big space below it & select import - Import the text file you just wrote as guided above - You will see all the values of time & respective pressure in this space now. - Click "Ok" - A use function has been created with name you specified. - Now while defining boundary condition, instead of writing any value click on to icon for function beside. Write name of user function you just defined.

Done. The values of pressures at different time have been input to your boundary condition.

Hope this will be useful.

Look up Profile Boundary Conditions in the doc and you'll find what you need.
