Dear all, I m going to do a CFD simulation on washing machine...and the fluid model of the same has three domains namely....stationary tub, rotating domains-2.

One rotating domain shud be in clk wise and the other shud be in anti clk wise....How shall i define...this condition ?

Actually this I approximated like the one I have mentioned above. But really what is happening is It is having 2 sec clk-wise,1.2 sec idle and another 2 sec anti clk-wise rotation.

How shall I interpret this kind of situation in CFX simulation.Any better ideas ??? Plz forward.

Thnx in advance !!! Rashmi

Is this a 2-phase flow problem?

Some usefull links: http://www.fluent.com/solutions/examples/x140.htm http://www.cfd-online.com/Links/prin...e=286&file=org http://www.infolink.com.au/articles/5b/0c03945b.asp (single phase washing machine)

Looks like a two-phase problem (in general).

BTW: the correct spelling is washing machine (google told me)

It is a single phase washing machine only.Just we are doing a sample simulation. Thts it. Thnx a lot for ur efforts bart prast.... And thnx a lot for correcting the spelling of "washing" tooo...It was in a hurry, made a mistake.

I got into the links which u specified.lemme see for some info regarding my doubts.

There's air inside (quite a lot actually) when I look at how my washing machine wash my clothes.

From practical pt of view, I can hardly see any cheap solution to build up a washing machine without air.

I can also imagine that flow will behave differently if air is mixing with water. Will running single phase simulation give realistic solution?

If you're single phase simulation, just set up a transient simulation defining the speed of the rotating wall.

Rashmi, do u have any materials or literature regarding the washing machine simulation? if yes, can u send me the papers.
