I'm trying to track this issue: We found some analysis started to hang on our 32bit xeon cluster. This started when we upgrade our cluster from 4 to 8 nodes, and start run jobs with up to 16 CPU's parallel: one of the tasks hang no cpu activity no disk activity,no logs or error anywhere! It seems was a parralel setup problem. With version 10 the problem was stressing our SYSADMIN and he found the problem could be reproduced on serial run too. The analysis after a random time hangup with no error message. Just to be sure we perform the same test on the following distributions (all installed on IBM blade system, so different computers, same XEON platform): RHEL4Update2 Installed by pressing "Enter" at every question; RHEL4Update2 Installed minimal Centos 4.2 (a rebuild of RHEL4) Centos 3.3 (a rebuild of RHEL3) Ubuntu 4.10 (default installation)
cAos 2 (an up to date distribution installed on a fileserver with different Hardware: AMD AthlonMP) The only platform where the test run up to the end was W2K!!! Did anybody saw the same behaviour? I can provide the def file (900k) for tests. |
