Hi everyone
Ansys cfx-pre (10) doesn't have feature of geometry creation and meshing. which all softwares can I use for meshing, apart from CFX-Mesh ? Manoj |

Pre is pre-processing to specify boundary condition, turbulence modelling & other solver parameters.
Try ICEMCFD for meshing. Try Workbench for geometry creation. I'm using CAD tool for geometry creation. Not very sure about any improvement in latest version of workbench anyway. Workbench seems to use similar structure as Solid Edge. So if you're familiar with Solid Edge, you may find it easier to get used to Workbench. |

Hi TB
I don't have access to ICEMCFD. Can you suggest any other software? I am having Ansys Mechanical, Professional .. Gambit, Ideas .. Does CFX-Mesh comes with the package 'Ansys CFX 10' ? Thanks in advance Manoj |

You can use Gambit to create a mesh, read it into fluent and then you can export the mesh as CGNS which is readable by CFX-PRE. It works fine! But then you have access to Fluent....

I'm not quite sure about your package but mine always comes with full package including ICEM, Pre, Solver & Post. Consult your local support if you have no idea about it.

Hi Michael
I have fluent and I tried to import the mesh as suggested by you. Its worked very well! thanks I have one more doubt. I was able to import only 3d meshes and not 2d. CFX-pre gave error, when I tried to import 2d mesh. Is there any option of selecting 2d/3d version of cfx-pre the way we have in fluent ? Thanks Manoj |

no. CFX is a fully 3D solver. In order to make a 2D calculation you need to have one layer of cells in the 3rd dimension.
