Use .igs file. You have to set up in Catia to export iges as solid.

just go to ansys, new geometry ---> import external geometry file-----> click on ur file---> click on generate and ur catia model will be in ansys designer modeler..from there click on project ..and there start meshing as usual

Why not utilize ANSYS Workbench - create a new Project, link to your CATIA file (or assembly); then mesh with CFX-Mesh and then input into your CFX workflow?
