Acoustic Analysis
 

Im currently working on my final year project that involves examining the radiated sound field of a duel stream coxial nozzle. Ive heard from variouse sources that i can use the pressure flucuations at specified source points in the flow to produce a sin wave by performing a transient analysis.

can CFD be used to perform an acoustic analyse? if so what method would be best to use?

Any advise on this matter would be most helpfull

It is possible to do it, ive done it for my final year project. You'll need a powerful machine to run it on. Set up your user points to take pressure readings at each time step. Make sure your timesteps are small enough to capture you required frequencies. Use 2nd order back Euler, total energy and create an equation set for you time based analysis. You'll then need to equate the pressure fluctuations using the standard formulae to convert to dB.
