Run-Time memory conifguration Error

Hi,
I am getting a memory config error when I try to run my simulation. Basically I require: Real: 998,000 Kbytes, Integer: 285,000 Kbytes, The rest: 10,000Kbytes And yet I have 2Gbytes? If I go into Task Manager and check available memory, I have 1,580,000 K available physical memory, so the solver should run. Other simulations do work, including one for only 200Mb less. Sorry about the below formatting, but this is the specific error generated by solver (CFX 5.7) +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Memory Allocated for Run (Actual usage may be less) | +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ Data Type Kwords Words/Node Words/Elem Kbytes Bytes/Node Real 255592.7 599.40 130.18 998408.8 2397.60 Integer 72907.1 170.98 37.13 284793.2 683.91 Character 2203.7 5.17 1.12 2152.0 5.17 Logical 40.0 0.09 0.02 156.2 0.38 Double 908.0 2.13 0.46 7093.8 17.04 +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ | ERROR #001100279 has occurred in subroutine ErrAction. | | Message: | | *** Run-time memory configuration error *** | | Not enough free memory is currently available on the system. | | Could not allocate requested memory - exiting! | | | | | | | +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ |

I called Ansys support and after a few days of them thinking, the problem is now fixed. Just in case anyone has the same problem in the future, I'll give the solution to the problem:
It's a windows problem. Whilst the computer has enough memory to run the simulation, it does not have enough in a continuous block. Therefore I needed to set up a PVM Local Parallel distribution (might require licences?). This partitions the solving into seperate chunks of a certain memory size each and hopefully the computer can find free momory eaual to the size of these chunks. This step is done in solver at the define run stage. |
