Hello everyone,

I am a beginner of CFX, so I hope someone here can help me with my questions. I am working on the simulation of resin injection pultrusion with CFX. In resin injection pultrusion process, glass fibres are pulled through an impregnation die from where resin is injected into the die and flow through the fibres to wet them out. Resin will reach the same speed as the moving fibres' when they exit the impregnation die to the heating die.

I used porous media to represent the fibres. So I made a porous domain for the impregnation die as well as a fluid domain for resin injection port. I set volume fraction and permeability for the porous domain. I also set solid motion to account for the moving fibres.

I am not sure whether I am on the right track or not. So I have two questions about the porous media setting. The first one is how to define the motion of porous media in CFX? The second one is how to set the momentum source term if I know the expression of the source term?

I will really appreciate if someone can help me with these questions.

Regards,

Jerry

Please do not PM me with CFD questions. If it is on the forum I will see it.

* I don't think you can set motion on porous media. Check the documentation to be sure. If you want to model moving porous media you might need to use your own source term.
* Volumetric source terms like this are done by defining a subdomain and applying the source term to the subdomain.

As question is similar so I am not opening a new thread.

As reaction is taking place in porous medium, how can we be sure that it is happening on porous-site.

What I mean is if a reaction needs a catalyst and porous foam is catalyst itself, so declaring sub-domain as reaction medium, will make porous foam as points of sources/sinks or any point in domain as sources/sinks?
