Default boundaries for the fluid domain ???

hi friends, my question is, on what basis one can decide about the diameter (heights in all 6 directions in case of rectangular box) upto which he should go for a given geometry??? i want to carry out a flow simulation for a blunt cone nose body behind which it has a cylinder of diameter 300 mm. plz reply.
