Hi everyone,

I have recently started working on my analysis on the cluster. My analysis takes a lot time because I want to see the transient response of the system. I initialited steady state results to shorten the analysis time while working on my local computer. When initialization is done on the cfx setup, you choose the .res directory and it is automatically added to the .def file. After I finished setup, I uploaded the .def file and initialization file (.res file) to the cluster server. Now, I have to change the directory in .def file as directories in clustes and my local is are not same. I open .def file as a text file and try to edit it. I directly copied the .res file directory and pasted it into the .def file. However, when I try to start my analysis, I get this error below.

WARNING: Did not unuse /cm/shared/modulefiles
An error has occurred in cfx5solve:

Error reported by IO module: recreate_indextable: bad dataset length

An error has occurred in cfx5solve:

An error has occurred in cfx5solve:

Error from IO module while opening /RS/users/m/initialize
/CFX.def:

"iocnt: open the primary file failed"

IO_FILE_FMT_ERR(15): IO dataset has incorrect format.

Secondly, I also realized that directories in .def file are not totally same with the file directory. In .def file, there is extra symbols like "" and "." used. If I examplify, the correct directory is users/m/cfx/cfx.res, but in .def file it is like users/ m/ cf\ x/cfx.res. Why is cfx using these characters and is there a pattern for this ?

Thanks for your helps.

The .def file is compressed, and it cannot be edited with any text editor. If you did, and save, you have corrupted the file.

Perhaps you extracted the commands file from the .def, and you edited the command file?

I opened .def file with nopepad and edited it. As you said, the file is corrupted.

Do you know how I can initialize steady state results while working on the cluster ?

Thank you.

you can use the help for cfx5solve, and see how to provide initial values file.

cfx5solve -help
