Thin gap

Hi, I am modeling a pipe flow containing a restrictor. A thin gap with about 0.1 mm hight occurs. My question is what should be the minimum amount of elements in this gap regarding hight) for good results with sst?

Re: Thin gap

Hi,

There is no general answer to that question as it depends on the flow, geometry and lots of other things. Do a mesh refinement study on it and find out.

Ey thx I am trying. Leads me to the next problem. Refining the mesh leads the mesh to creep out of the body at narrow overlapping surfaces. Possible to avoid that?

Hi,

In ICEM have a look at thin cuts (I think that is what they are called). CFX-Mesh should not have this problem.
