Can I import Mesh generated by Gambit into CFX or not.

Also Can I export data computed using CFX solve into other software like Fluent or atleast tecplot.

yes, if you choose your solver as ansys in gambit and then export mesh as normal you get a .cdb file while can be read in cfx. In cfx when you inport your mesh you obviously also need to match the import type as ansys.

I believe for the 2nd part you can use the export command in the solver manager but I have never used it. It is in the help guide though.

The problem is that My mesh in fluent is 2d and when I export this in Ansys or any other format and try to imprt this file in cfx I get the problem saying missing 3d elements.

Is there work around for this

Create 3D elements.

You could wait until after the 2 companies merge. Then by definition fluent data will also be ansys data.

Re: CFX and Fluent

you have to extrude it 1 cell into the 3rd dimension. You can then use symmetry planes as your wall boundary conditions. You have to make it 3d otherwise it will not work. Best of luck.

What about tecplot or ICEM with POST VIEW module?
