Hi Md!

You can find information about making animations in CFX-4.4 in the document:

$CFX_HOME/analyse/4.4/Doc/Analyse/Analyse-html/node26.html

If you have CFX5 post (the newest is cfx10), the dump file can be loaded in the post. Flexible ways are available for making animations using cfx5post.

Good luck, Forrest

Hi Forrest,

Thank you for response. I do have CFX10. I visualise my CFX4 results in CFX10-post only. But CFX-10 post does not recognise the animation data saved by CFX4. If you could able to do that, please let me know how?

Thanks, MD

It should do, I've done that myself before using cfx5.7 post. Are you running transient flow in cfx4.4? If you are running transient and you write your transient output based on the timesteps (this needs to be done in the command file) and then your dump file should include your transient results. After you load your dump file into cfx10 post, you are able to make animation based on your timesteps using the facilities the post provides. If you didn't write your transient results, your dump file only includes the results for your final time step, you won't be able to animate it.

Hope this helps

Regards, Forrest

Hi Forrest,

Thank you so much for response. I write following lines in CFX4 and gather the transient data in file "XY". I was trying to load this file in Post. It doesn't work.

>> ANIMATION DATA

FILE NAME 'XY'

FORMATTED

TIME INTERVAL 0.01

Y 1.0

PHASE NAME 'PHASE2'

VOLUME FRACTION

END

I don't know how to write transient data in dmp file. Could you please tell me how to do that?

Regards, MD

This is the way you could write your transient data into the dump file.

>>OUTPUT OPTIONS /* You can put this right before the last line >>STOP */

>>DUMP FILE OPTIONS /* For write to the dump file */

EACH TIME STEP /* You can choose time interval here, check out the manual */

ALL VARIABLES /* You can use selected variable names here */

END

I used this 2 or 3 years ago, one thing I can't be sure is: If you use'selected variable names' rather than 'all variables', the final dump file may just include the variables you selected. You may miss out some variables you find useful later on. If your domain size (mesh size) is not big, i suggest you using 'all variables'. Be aware that you may end up with a big dmup file if you have a large domain size with too many time steps.

After you get the dump file, load it into cfx10 post, you then can find your transient data

Hope this helps

Forrest
