ANSYS CFX 10.0 Parallel Performance for Windows XP

Hi,

I used CFX10.0 to run parallel cases on the Windows XP 32bit platform machines.I checked the performance in the task manager, it showed the performance of CPU is 50% on the each machine.

Hardware information of each machine as following:

1. Intel Xeon Dual Core 3.4Gb CPU 2. DDR 533 4Gb RAM Memery 3. 10/100/1000 Mbps 5 Port HUB/SWITCH

How could I use the full performance of CPU?

Thanks a lot!

Disable Hyper Threading from within the BIOS. That should work

As far as I know Hyper Threading was just a pre step to the dual core processors. There you have 2 cores but only virtually. CFX never supportet that. Using CFX on (real!) dual core processors (I use a Smithfield) means that single job just uses one core. In the Task Manager you will see that with the 50% load. If you want to use the full processor power you have to run it in parallel: In your example 2 partitions per Cluster-Node.

Activate "PVM Local Parallel" in the Run Mode menu in the Solver Manager New Job command. Set number of partitions = 2.
