MPICH parallel problem (CFX-11 preview 5)
 

I am trying to setup MPICH parallel funcionality on CFX-11 preview 5 on WinXP prof.. I have set it up as I did in CFX-10, where it works just fine, but when I try to make a solver run I get the following message:

"Error (at msgget.F): Cannot find message file, english_msg.txt. Please make sure that the environmental variable CFX_DATA_DIR is set to the right directory. The run will stop."

Has something changed in the setup from CFX-10 to CFX-11? Do I need to make a new environmental variable in WinXP?

CFX11 P5 does not support distributed parallel. That's it. I wasted a lot of time on this, finally found above in their memo.

Ok, I see. I guess I have to sit and wait for the final release. Do you have a link for that memo? I could not find it on the customer portal.

Get P6 or updated file for P5 and every thing works.

No, not everything works. I tried P6, the Dist. MPICH works, but PVM does not. On XP64, if each mpich.exe gets above 2GB RAM, the solver has problem to synchronize and write the result file.

You are right about P6 PVM. You should run MPICH parallel anyways on windows, PVM sucks.

Your support rep can probably get a hot off the press development copy with both working.

While you are at it you should report the 2GB hanging job problem to support anyways. Sounds like a bug.

It's clearly stated in the release notes which you should have read.
