Hi all, I am trying to couple CFX to an in house structural code. I am trying to model a flexible membrane like structure.

current steps: 1) I run cfx and export the pressure files , 2)import them into my structural solver 3)export new shape file from structural sover. 4)re mesh manually 5)cylce begins again

I have managed to automate the pressure side of things but now want to automate the shape imput to avoid the remeshing problem. Anyone done anything similar and willing to help me? My membrane does not move significantly so hope to be ale to use CFX to do the meshing but I need a way to move the nodes on the surface of the boundary.

Hi,

Rather than remesh manually you could probably use the moving mesh capability. You can define the mesh movement with a fortran routine which should link in nicely to your process.

that was what i was hoping, can you specify individual node positions? any chance of some further details glenn? Jon

Yes, you specify the location of individual nodes. Have a look at the moving mesh tutorial example.

Using the junction box routine they specify a completely new mesh. I only want to specify the positions of the nodes on the boundary. Is this still possible?

If you want to specify the location of the nodes on the boundary you can do that without fortran (but you might want to use fortran to link in with your other software). Again have a look at the tutorial example.
