Hello,

I'm new to CFX, and need to obtain results in it, to make comparison with FLUENT.

Is there some way to set temperature regions on z-axis and patch them something like petching regions in fluent.

I need to obtain temperature diferents of sea layers - thermocline

thanke you in advance

Zoran

Dear Zoran,

The idea of patching as in FLUENT is not available in CFX..

However, CFX provides you with a different set of tools to do the same thing. Do you want to set a temperature profile/distribution within a 3d or 2d region?

In most cases the use of CEL expressions (mostly using the step function) is enough to set/initialize a variable on a region..

Please see for examples of using CEL.. They have been discussed in this Forum as well several times.

Opaque.

Thanke you for your post,

I wanna set temperature on 3d region. Ther would be 5-8 zones over the hight of some 50 units and domain is bay 50 metars deep in one end and 5 metars the other, 3 km long, 900 m wide at widest side and 30 m at other side.

I need to set initial domain with thermocline, becouse i'm modeling inlet of hot water on the side of the bay and on -45 m inlet of cold water. Need to see mixing of cold and hot water at inlet. I'm using bouyancy flow.

Dear Zoran,

Write an CEL expression of the temperature variation as a function of height (perhaps Z direction) and then use it in the Initialisation panel for all domains (I imagine you associated a zone to a domain)..

Select Automatic with Value and use your expression on the RHS for Temperature..
