Does CFX can calculate within structure model?

Does CFX can solve the problem within structure model?

i get a struture model using ICEM,can i continue do some computation in CFX?

Well, its hard to understand really what your question is. But it looks like you are asking if one can do a structural analysis using CFX. If that is the question, then the answer is NO. CFX is for fluid analysis only. And whenever one needs to solve a structural problem , one can use ANSYS. But if you are talking about FSI, I think you would both CFX and ANSYS capabilities at hand

Hi Prayskyer,

Actually, it depends on what you need to solve in your structure. If you need stresses and deformation, the answer is still no, but you can couple your CFX analysis with an ANSYS FEA analysis. However, if it is a thermal solution you require, you can include your structural mesh as a "Solid" domain and solve the complete heat transfer solution.

thanks for answering my question, i think i made a misunderstanding here,i want to output my stucture mesh into CFX, does CFX can solve within structure mesh?

thanks a lot!!!

I think I now know what your querry is( hopefully I am right!).

You cannot use a structural model to solve a fluid problem. Because you would never be modelling the fluid, you will never have a mesh to solve it.

Cheers

Re: Does CFX can calculate within structure model?

hello prayskyer if you want to work with the structured mesh (created by ICEM) in CFX, then yes you can do it. rightclick on premesh, select convert to unstructured mesh (or even convert to multiblock grid). now select output solver to ansys CFX. this will write the mesh with .cfx5 extension. you can import this mesh in CFX by choosing ICEMCFD format.

After reading Sudhakar's reply, I finally am able to understand the question correctly.

Sudhakar's instructions will help you in your work.

thanks a lot for your help, which is help a lot in my work:)

i get that it seems CFX can only deal with stucture mesh..?

wrong word "unstructure mesh"

Re: Does CFX can calculate within structure model?

CFX can handle any type of mesh (structured mesh or unstructured mesh or hybrid mesh). better you work out all the examples in CFXhelp which gives a fair knowledge in working with CFX. in some example cases structured mesh will also be used (you will not be creating the structured mesh but you will be just importing the structured mesh in CFX-Pre)
