Default Element quality

Hello, I have a more general question concerning the mesh generation. However since I am using CFX I will post it here.

I know that it is important to generate elements with a "quality" as high as possible (e.g. for CFX at least 0.15, if possible). I also know that "high quality" means that the angles of the elements are supposed to be as good, i.e. as similar as possible (Prism 90deg, Tetra 60deg, etc), right?

What I do not understand is simply the reason. If I am using a CV-approach (like in CFX) my equations will be "made out of" expressions including CV-face-points. But why is it important to have faces that are oriented towards each other as similar as possible?

Regards Andreas

Avoiding excessive numerical diffusion amongst other things.

Alright, thank you.But what role play the element angles for numerical diffusion? If the answer is too lenghty for this forum I would be very pleased to get the titles of some good textbooks/references that deal with the issues of control volumes and element quality.

Thanks and regards Andreas
