Dear Friends,

In CFX10 Tutorials,(P. 185), one seventh power law was used at Inlet.

In my models, compressed air choked at inlet, is it right to use that power law? What situation can I use that power law?

Thank you in advance.

Best Regards

Eric

Only if you *know* for sure the velocity profile at your inlet is a 1/7th power law. Not likely though.

You should use something else if you are not sure of the velocity. eg: total pressure & direction, mass flow rate & direction, or static pressure and direction are other possibilities (watch outlet bc type on the last one!).

Dear Mr. Hekler,

Thank you for your response. Many thanks.

I knew the static pressure, velocity and density of the fluid(choked air), is it possible to set the total pressure as inlet boundary condition? And how to calculate the total pressure.

I am a new comer to CFD, Could you give me some advice? Many thanks.

Best Regards

Eric
