Error loading particle tracks from .trk file in CFD-Post

Hello!

I am experiencing an error when trying to create a particle track for my simulaton. The simulation is of sand particles dispersed in water through a pressurized tunnel.

CFD-Post asks for CFX-4 Tracks from file, where I upload my .trk file from the simulation. When I press 'Apply', I gett the following error message:

ERROR
Invalid CFX-4 Particle Track file: C:/Users/user1/Downloads/PT1.trk
Invalid number of data elements supplied on line 2:
Expecting 4, Received 5.

I have used particle tracks successfully before, however, that was when using workbench. Now I am using the standalone version both for simulation and post-processing.

If anyone has any tips on how to resolve this problem, I would appreaciate it a lot!

Aren't the tracks present in your Post session? They are saved in the results file by default and loaded in Post automatically, so no need to load them separately. Unless you use CFX-4. But that is really ancient stuff......

Thanks for replying!

I have used 'Selected variables' in my output control for the first time. When particle tracks worked for me before, I used 'Standard'. Then I could see the 'Res Particle Tracks' in CFD-Post, which, as I understand it, is what should be displayed when the tracks are included in the .res file. Maybe I missed something when selecting which variables to output?

I am running a new simulation now with the 'Standard' option to see if it makes a difference.

After running the simulation with 'Standard' as the output choice, I can now view the particle tracks. It seems like there was something I missed about particle tracking when I chose the 'Selected variables' option.

Yeah, it's an easy mistake. Glad it worked out for you.
