Hi,

I was wondering if CFX has a real-gas equation of state fully integrated into the solver such that it can be used in combustion modeling? Would someone let me know?

Dear Jake,

The ANSYS CFX solver has an integrated real gas of equation of state. For 10.0, the Redlich Kwong equation of state is available for pure substances. For 11.0, there may be others hidden.

However, for mixture of real gases the equation must be evaluated with a different set of constant obtained from specific mixture rules. The current mixture rules (ideal mixture) is not a good one for real gases.

However, you will be better informed by contacting ANSYS CFX help desk directly, and either get the information or make them aware of your interest. That is how they know what customers want.

i'll just add that if you can live with:

- ideal mixing rules - setting correct reference enthalpy and entropy - single interval ideal gas specific heat capacity (NASA not yet supported by the real gas model)

it will work fine.
