some did a drag simulation on dimpled golfball ?

i want to try to simulate more drag effects with dimples has some already done this in ansys? if you could they help me start this off

Hi,

I am not sure this can be modelled as a RANS simulation. You certainly need good resolution of the boundary layer to have a chance so use either SST or the turbulence transition model - worth a try to start off. CFX can do this type of model very nicely so I would not write CFX off as zxaar suggests.

It is likely you will need a DES or LES model for accurate results. CFX can do DES quite well but specialist LES codes will be more efficient then CFX if LES is required. CFX can do LES so I would definitely give it a go even if it does need LES.

To actually model it I would model the golf ball and put it in a rotating domain to model the ball's spin. You will probably need to put a stationary domain around it connected with a GGI.
