Fatal overflow in linear solution
Frds, I am solving a pipe flow problem in CFX but i am getting an error in solver, the message shown after failure is "ERROR #004100018 has occurred in subroutine FINMES. Message: Fatal overflow in linear solver." Please if anybdy has idea abt it pls help.
Thanks Ravi |
Re: Fatal overflow in linear solution
Within Advice on flow Modelling, on the manual, you will find some recommendations to see what to do with this kind of errors.

Re: Fatal overflow in linear solution
I am not really clear about the solution given in solver advice. if i change the outlet boundary to opening boundary, the solver solves the problem but when i draw the velocity vector the direction of vector is opposite to the expected one and which i feel is not the realistic one. so please let me know somthg more abt it....
Thanks Ravi |
Re: Fatal overflow in linear solution
You should simplify the model, at least until you find a good result and then you will be able too add more complexity. Could it be that there is a reflux next to the outlet? Can you move away the outlet? Can you describe to me better the system?

Re: Fatal overflow in linear solution
Try a finer mesh, smaller timestep, and double checking your boundary conditions to ensure you haven't set things up backwards.

Re: Fatal overflow in linear solution
Thanks Frds,
I tried with finer mesh and readjusted the outlet to further distance and the solution obtained was very good. The guidance worked out. Thankyou so much...... |
