Techies is on a distinguished road
I'm simulating heat transfer rotating case in CFX where the domain is effected by coriolis effect. So what is the model to suitable for rotating case ? thermal energy or total energy ?
Thanks

Coriolis effect is a momentum thing, not a heat transfer thing. If you use rotating frames of reference you get the Coriolis effect, and what heat transfer model you use is totally separate.

The selection of thermal energy vs total energy comes down to what effect are you trying to account for.

For incompressible fluids in rotating equipment, the changes across the machine are usually isothermal and there is little conversion from kinetic energy to thermal energy (only via viscous dissipation), so using thermal energy is OK.

For compressible fluids in rotating equipment, the energy conversions are more complex since some are thermal, compression/expansion, viscous and work done by moving boundaries. It is best to always use total energy for those cases.

For cases with a frame change model and compressible flow, you definitely should be using total energy model.

At least that is my approach.
