ICEM CFD question
I made my model in proe. Now it seems that I need to make a few arrangements to my model. I need to make separation on one surface so that I can separate a surface that once an entity into two or more entities. By doing this I can assign those new area as different part. I need to do this, because I need different mesh quality for each section.

Not sure, but I think there is a tutorial in ICEM where it takes a rod and does different meshes along the axial direction. As long as you can do something similar to your geometry that would be the best way.
Otherwise, you'd have to make separate parts in ProE and put them together in assemblies. ICEM picks up the various parts quite well (in my experience) and then you can define the mesh parameters inside. -M |

In ICEM CFD you can trim a surface in as many parts you want(Geometry--Create/Modify Surface--Segment Surface). Ease of doing this depends on type of surface.In surface mesh setup you can assign required mesh parameters to individual entity. |

I've tried using surface trim, and I choose the option where I split the surface using existing curve, now the problem is how can I make a nice/good straight line in icem? So far it's very convinient if I have 2 lines, then I can make a new midline using those 2 lines. |

If you want to trim the surface along a principal direction - then using the IsoCurves (U-V) curves is easiest - especially if the surface is curved. Geometry > Create/Modify Curves > IsoCurve.
If the surface is flat - create two points at the correct locations - then create a curve (from points) between the 2 points. |

Now I am about to make mesh, I choose unstructured mesh (tetrahedral). What would be the guideline for creating such mesh? And what will be the parameters so one can say that the mesh is good or bad. |
