Gear Pump

For your experience is it possible to simulate gear pump with CFX? or it's better to simulate with another cfd programs like fluent or star cd Regards Elia

Hi,

Gear pumps are pretty difficult to model in CFX. I think you will find Fluent or StarCD will be better for this type of model as they have more mesh motion and dynamic mesh topology change options.

If you did try a gear pump in CFX, your best bet would be to use a junction box routine.

What about PumpLinx: http://www.simerics.com/? Seems to be good with such applications. Have a look also at CFdesign...

So why? why is CFX impossible since it has Immersed Solid?

CFX did not have immersed solids in 2007 when this thread was written. It now has it and that is a good mthod to do this sort of model.
