I couldn't find this pressure unit in CFX, is there a way to use CFX-POST to show the pressure in inches of water.

Thanks, Todd!

Dear todd z,

If you are referring to "inches of water" as a unit, try inWg. For example,

Relative Pressure = 10 [inWg]

or inches of Mercury

Reference Pressure = 760 [mmHg]

or

Pressure = 11 [inHg]

all of them should work throughtout the ANSYS CFX product, i.e CFX-Pre/Solver/Post.

In CFX-Post, select Edit/Options/Common/Units/Custom and modify Pressure to be inWg, or inHg or mmHg.

Hope it helps, Opaque

Most of the time, the calculated pressure is not in unit of [inWg]. I usually do a convertion by P/1000 [kg/m^3]/25.4 [mm/in].

Any better way?

Dear Cyclone,

I am sorry, but the valid syntax (within ANSYS CFX) for the units within the brackets does not include "in water", but "inWg".

You can see all the possible units available within the ANSYS CFX product under your installation directory in the file /etc/units.cfx

Hi Opaque,

Trust me, it works. 'water' is in fact listed as a unit. 'in water' translates to pressure in inches of water. 'm water' would do the same for meters of water, etc. I've had problems with 'inWg' before that using 'in water' fixed.

Dear Cyclone,

That is an obscure behavior to me, but it works. Same as:

a - 1 [in mercury]

b - 2 [in Hg]

c - 3 [inHg]

d - 4 [in water]

e - 5 [in Wg]

f - 6 [inWg]

Notice that [inwater], or [inmercury] do not work.

Looking into the units.cfx file, I found the water(Wg) and mercury(Hg) entries and how they convert to [Pa m^-1].

Thanks,

Opaque
