about the output to CFX files

I have a rectangular box made in ICEM, and I define each surface in different names, and generate the grid from there, and then export the mesh using the Output option in ICEM as a .cfx5 file. After, i import this file into CFX Pre, the mesh itself is ok, however, when I try to define boundary condition for the box. The top and bottom surface are ok. But, the other 4 sides are lumped together as 1 surface instead of 4, is there a way to avoid that, or what can i do basically?

Hi,

Set each wall as a different part in ICEM.

Thanks, I had tried the method u mentioned, however, it still doesn't work, which the 4 sides still missing... but I have examined the mesh after I converted the pre-mesh to unstruct mesh. Those 4 sides for some reasons doesn't not contain any element (still don't know why?), however, the volume mesh is there...I wonder if that is the reason why those 4 sides are missing after I output the mesh into .cfx5 format?

Hi,

This is pretty basic ICEM stuff. I recommend you do the tutorials which come with it (some more are available on the ANSYS community page I think) and hopefully things will be clearer.
