ANSYS CFX Tutorial

Hi There, I'm new to the ANSYS CFX software. Therefore, I would like to ask if anybody want to help me with this software. I'm used to use Fluent software. But ANSYS CFX seem vey different.

Can anybody tell me what is the process in ANSYS CFX which start from modelling until the post processing result.

Thanks

Re: ANSYS CFX Tutorial

Dear Rashid,

I am also new to CFX. In my case, I draw geometry using Geometry Modeller and than create mesh using CFX Mesh. Both Geometry Modeller and CFX Mesh are available in ANSYS Workbench.

Then, I use CFX, that includes CFX-pre for importing the mesh and setting boundary conditions, CFX-solver for running the simulation, and CFX-Post to see the results.

Hope it can be helpfull.

Thanks OA for wonderful answer. I get the picture how to do simulation using ANSYS CFX. Thanks once again

Re: ANSYS CFX Tutorial

You can do many useful tutorials available on ANSYS CFX help menu. They will teach you everystep, starting from Design-modeler till CFX-Post. I think, there are around 20-23 tutorials available.

Try using Solid Works to draw you computational domain! Save as a igs file and after that, you will able to import in Ansys Desig-modeller.

Re: ANSYS CFX Tutorial about medical

Hello Agung,

Please tell us your problem in more detail. CFX could be used to analyze ventilation system in hospital rooms, flow field inside organs, etc.

By the way, your name is so familiar to me, are you Indonesian?

of course iam indonesian. i want to compare geometry where gas exchange in pulmonary between photo from CT Scan or MRI and geometry will i make in icemcfd. after that, i just to compare which more accurate. CT SCan/MRI or simulation by cfd. i confuse where i have to start? i hope you want explain me more detailed by email in agoeng_wp@yahoo.co.id students of aerospace engineering ITB indonesia

by the way, are indonesian also? nice to meet you OA.

Re: ANSYS CFX Tutorial about medical

Agung,

I am not an expert in gas exchange in pulmonary system. But,I think it is interesting. The problem may be seen as a diffusion process of CO2 and O2 due to pressure and concentration gradient.

I think you can start to make a model of lung system, complete with initial and boundary condition.

May I know who is your supervisor?

Flow Simulation in Reverse Drum mixer.

Hello!!
I am Chirag. I am currently working on an ANSYS CFX for simulating flow in reverse drum mixer. I have started learning this software and going through the tutorials. I want to simulate the flow in such a manner that rotating blades in clockwise will allow to churn the mixer and rotating it anti clockwise will get flow out of the outlet. The problem I am facing is there is only one inlet so hoew should I define boundary conditions?
Can ANSYS CFX help to simulate flow in animating mode?

Thanking you!

Chirag Patel (CP).

ANSYS DesigModeler,Design Mesh & CFX

Dear all ,

I have some problems to get started working with the following softwares :
ANSYS DesigModeler,Design Mesh & CFX

Do anyone have some tutorials that will help me ?

Thanks a lot,
Pavelko

Tutorials on them are available on the ANSYS community website. There are also some tutorials as part of the installation.

Hello

Hello there. I'm novice in Ansys and i was wondering if there is some tutorial which explaine how to make some random object in ANSYS (for example garage constructed with beams)

ghorrocks March 15, 2011 16:43

Sounds like you want basic FEA stuff. This is the CFD forum so you are on the wrong forum.

Hydrodynamic test

Hello, I want to put a solid object on a fluid and apply a veloctity for this solid and see how the forms of velocity with the faces of this solid.
Thanks

ghorrocks June 7, 2011 18:57

Sounds like a straight forward FSI application. The tutorials show how to do this.

amine3002 June 8, 2011 03:50

The problem I did not find any tutorial for this application, can you help to find it

Hi there. I am a complete Ansys software package novice user.

Here is a bit complex preview of the thing I want to do:

http://imageshack.us/f/690/vrayi.jpg/

Basically I want to do use some of the Ansys packages to make a wind pressure test on some structure (simpler than the one shown above), lets say a simple cube, or a vertical stick.

Is there any tutorial for this?

Thanks

ghorrocks August 13, 2011 07:44

Most of the general tutorials will help for this case. No need for multiphase or similar tricky stuff. You might want to consider advanced turbulence technques like DES/SAS... but if you are a CFD beginner then better not.

Unfortunately tutorials which go beyond showing what buttons to press to show you what is actually required to do a useful and accurate CFD is another thing. I cannot suggest a reference here - anybody else have some useful references for how to do accurate CFD?

Hi OA.

I am new to CFD and it is nice to see that you have posted what each component of CFX will do.

Is this list exhaustive? Or are there some other components of CFX? If so, could you please post their name and their functionality ?

brunoc December 19, 2012 12:27

No, the ANSYS CFX application is composed of those three modules. There are other separate modules that help you create a geometry, a mesh and do parametric simulations, but those are from ANSYS Workbench, which is a framework that connects almost all of the ANSYS solvers.

You should take a look at ansys.com for more info and maybe contact one of their local "dealers". They'll be more then happy to explain you everything.
